概要
本作「Black & White」は、Juice WRLDの大ヒットデビューアルバム『Goodbye & Good Riddance』（2018年）に収録された、彼の底知れぬ薬物依存と虚無的なパーティーライフを描いた一曲だ。大物プロデューサーのBenny BlancoとCashmere Catが手掛けたアップテンポでポップなビートとは裏腹に、リリックの内容は極めてダークである。「黒いベンツで黒人のダチとコカイン（白）をキメて、白いベンツで白人のダチとコデイン（紫）をキメる」という鮮やかな色彩と人種の対比を用いながら、新世代のドラッグカルチャーという歪んだレンズを通して垣間見える連帯を描写している。アルバム全体に漂う失恋の痛みや心の空洞を麻痺させるため、パーコセットやヘネシーを限界まで過剰摂取し、「パーティー・アニマル」として振る舞う彼の姿は、当時のエモ・ラップ・シーンが抱えていた破滅的な快楽主義と深い孤独を見事に体現している。
