概要
前曲「Intro」で描かれた幼少期からストリートへの転落を経て、本格的な本編の幕開けとなるのがこの「Things Done Changed」である。プロデューサーのダニエル・スコットが手がけた重くメランコリックなビートの上で、ビギーは1970年代から80年代にかけての無邪気なブルックリンの風景と、1990年代初頭のクラック・エピデミックによって銃弾と血にまみれた残酷な現実を鮮やかに対比させている。フックでサンプリングされているのは、奇しくも西海岸の重鎮ドクター・ドレーの「Lil' Ghetto Boy」（スヌープ・ドッグのボーカル）であり、当時の東西対立の気運とは裏腹に、「ストリートの変貌」というテーマがアメリカ全土のゲットーで共通する悲劇であったことを暗に示している。ヒップホップにおける「失われた古き良き時代」と「冷酷なストリートの現実」を描写した金字塔的トラックである。
