1972年のソロ第2作『Ben』に収録されたフィラデルフィア・ソウルの名門、スタイリスティックス（The Stylistics）による1971年のヒット曲のカバーである。当時わずか13〜14歳だったマイケルが、教員のストライキ、大気汚染、世代間の断絶、そして政治家の欺瞞といった重厚な社会問題を歌い上げている点は特筆に値する。原曲のメロウなサウンドを踏襲しつつも、変声期前の彼が持つ澄み切ったボーカルが、混沌とした社会情勢に対する純粋な問いかけとして響く。後に「Man in the Mirror」や「Earth Song」などで社会的メッセージを力強く発信していく「キング・オブ・ポップ」のヒューマニズムと社会意識の原点とも言える、重要な一曲である。
